Join Dave Ochs from the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association (CBMBA) and Tim Kugler from Gunnison Trails on a free, guided mountain bike ride up Crystal Peak Trail and down trail 400/Brush Creek on July 27th. Don’t worry we got the shuttle covered for you - but space is limited to 12 so sign up early!
This is a challenging, but fun bike ride with incredible views and the wildflowers will be in full bloom. We'll hear how local mountain bikers have shaped the GPLI proposal for the protection of public lands in Gunnison County and what the proposal would do to protect biking. This area is part of our Double Top Special Management Area.
Crystal Peak Trail starts at just over 11,000 feet and begins with a 2.5 mile climb that gains 1,480’ before topping out at Star Pass. From there we will connect with trail 400 - Brush Creek. This will set us up for a full day of advanced high country mountain biking. To find out more about the trails, check out the CBMBA web page.
We plan on being out until later in the day, so please come prepared with bike gear, water, lunch, sunscreen, insect repellant, rain jacket and anything else you need. We will have two meetups (1) at the 4-way stop in Crested Butte at 9:00 am and (2) at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Gunnison at 8:30 am to carpool to the trailhead.
